As CEO and Founder of Tranquil Waters Counseling, Cheri L. Dietz has over 20 years of experience as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW-R, psychotherapy privilege). Cheri received her Master’s degree from New York University in Manhattan and her undergraduate degree locally from SUNY Buffalo State College. Cheri was extensively trained in psychotherapy through her schooling at NYU.

Prior to starting her private practice, Cheri spent the majority of her career at Buffalo General Hospital and Erie County Medical Center, treating underserved, diverse populations with a variety of psychiatric disorders and various social and emotional needs. Working in both the outpatient settings, as well as the emergency psychiatric departments of these facilities, has guided Cheri into using an eclectic approach to therapy including motivational and person-centered therapies through individual and group treatment. Cheri is also trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) as well as Schema Therapy.

In addition to being a therapist, Cheri enjoys spending time with her husband & young daughter, family, and friends. She loves to travel, read, and watch various documentaries. She has a strong passion for animals, especially dogs, which she has rescued in the past.
